I'd like to tell you a bit about Gemma Miller, who has been a lovely supporter of Yellowstone over the last few years, and who I really respect and admire. I can't exactly remember how I met Gemma (I think it was via her husband, James who is my insurance man) but I'm sure glad I did. She runs The Vintage Suitcase Events & Fairs across Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Since her business started in 2013, it's gone on to host hugely successful events, and win the 'Breakthrough Business' award at the 2014 National Vintage Awards!
It's really hit me lately that if everyone supported each other, and shouted about other great businesses, then the world of independents would be an even nicer one. So The Vintage Suitcase had to be the first one I told you about. I really admire Gemma's work ethic. She has a lovely family, she knows everyone, and she works hard for a living doing something she believes in.
I'm hoping to make it to her next fair at the Buxton Dome. What am insane venue. I'm not sure I'll be able to concentrate on the stalls with that ceiling..!
And if Gemma's super successful fairs aren't enough, she is also a social media wizard. She helps other small businesses by offering consultations and advice on how to get noticed by the right people.
I'm super excited to say that Gemma and I are joining forces in 2 weeks to run a social media workshop at Yellowstone too.
Who inspires you in business? Who do you really look up to? I'd love to hear.
