My Wedding Invitations

20/6/2016

Our Wedding Day is drawing closer by the day (4 weeks to go!) so I thought I'd let you in on what our invitations look like! As most of you know, I design bespoke Wedding Stationery as well as running Yellowstone Art Boutique (the stationery has it's own website over at Yellowstone Paper Works if you fancy a nosey). So when Stevie and I got engaged last June, I've got to confess I kind of already knew what I'd design for our own invitations!
Although when I came to put pencil to paper, it was a lot harder than I expected. I changed my mind approximately 150 times but we decided that we wanted our invites to be about us and our venue.

I tried to take my own advice and keep it as simple and styled as possible. I illustrated Stevie and I for the front but we decided we didn't want to give away exactly what we'll be wearing so went for a plain white dress and navy suit. I love floral arches and thought it'd be a nice way to frame the front of the invite, so I painted a wild arch around us featuring the words 'We decided on forever'.
Although this invite is for guests to celebrate our Wedding Day, we want it to be about the lifelong commitment we are making to each other, so these words seemed to some it up.

On the inside, we wanted to give some hints towards our magnificent venue- The West Mill, Darley Abbey. The impeccably renovated old Cotton Spinning Mill has open bare brick walls and huge windows that flood the building with light. I painted the stunning brick wall and windows that will be behind us as we say our vows, as a hint to the rustic beauty that our guests can expect.
As I mentioned before, we are not sticking to a strict colour scheme so I used greens and pinks to soften the bricks.

The bottom of the invite has a little pouch to keep the RSVP postcard and info card safe and I added our initial/arrow logo that I created for our save the dates. Again I continued the pastel colour palette to soften the industrial painting. I thought it was a nice touch to add the balloons as if they were being held in the pouch too. Balloons and polka dots are two of my favourite things, so I couldn't resist sneaking those in somewhere.

For our RSVP we wanted to make our guests smile so added a few cheeky comments to the options. As you can imagine, we've had lots of bell jokes and some guests even asked if they actually had to wear bells...
I was impressed by the number of RSVPs we got back, as I know that getting RSVP is normally very tricky and involves lots of nagging. But I think as our friends and family all knew that I'd made them by hand, they daren't upset me!

I'm so thrilled with our invites and how they're a little different to my usual floral invitations that I've worked on for other couples. Wedding stationery is such a nice way to let your friends and family have a peek at what to expect from your Wedding Day. I'm also happy to report that they're adorning our friends mantelpieces and fridges across the country!

I loved being able to write a very special credit to the back too!
Now I better get cracking making the seating plan, place names, table names, signs and the rest of our to do list! 4 weeks to go...

That was so creative. That was new idea for wedding invitations. Most of the time, all the invitations I see has similar design when it comes to fonts, colors and what so ever. This one is so cool. I would be happy to receive this kind of invitation. Anyways, good luck in your wedding and I hope that you will be really happy that day. May god bless you all and be happy for the rest of your lives together. Marriage is both a commitment and a choice.

Renting limos for weddings is a common practice for those who can afford one. While these luxury vehicles are not your usual transportation option because they are costly, they can be well opted for special occasions like weddings.

Very lovely wedding invitation! Love the floral arches and break wall idea. When making a wedding invitation, design and wording are two of the most important parts to take time to think about. Thanks for sharing your tips!
