I talked and talked (and talked some more) about so many issues surrounding being self employed and the politics of running a shop, to try and offer advice to other motivated creatives who were contemplating doing the same thing. I mentioned what I'd done on the lead up to opening up, that had stood me in good stead, and about what I wish I'd known before I took the leap of faith. We chatted social media, branding, pricing and so much more.
It was really invigorating chatting to everyone after that talk too. Hearing peoples plans and noting that they seemed lots more eager to start, than when they arrived at 7pm felt so rewarding. Introducing people to others who I think might come in handy to each other was an added bonus of the night.
I had some lovely emails and tweets after the event-
"It was very helpful to hear an honest and personal account of some of the ins and outs of setting up and
keeping things running and also raised some points that I hadn't considered." Mark
"Just wanted to say thank you for last night, it was a very interesting evening. I have been running my little business for about 2 years and some of the things you said have really made me think and reassess how I manage my time." Jane
PS. If you missed out on this one, I've added tickets to a second talk in January, to the website. Just click here for all the information.
